COURSE GOALS:

           The course provides students with fundamental knowledge of management in organizations, such as planning, decision making, organizing, leading, and controlling. Besides basic knowledge about functions of management, managerial skills are also provided to students in order to develop their analytical and problem solving ability to reach the core goals of efficiency and the relative stability of organizations.

          To complete the course successfully, students are assessed based on the criteria of learning outcomes of the course, which are part of the major of business administration. The requirements ratings are based on a scale of 6 levels established by Benjamin S.Bloom (1956).

Course Description:

          Management provides learners the management functions and skills to carry out all organizational activities by grouping all individuals’ activities toward the achievement of mutual goals.

The course includes the definitions of management; the roles and functions of managers; Values of management research; Impacts of internal and external organizational environment on effective decision making in organizations; Information regarded as input data to support decision making in organizations. The course also includes a detailed investigation of the four basic functions of management: planning and decision making, organizing, leading and motivating, and controlling.

          Studying Management requires active studying activities, including discovering a student's own interpretation of management related research activity, listening in class, and interacting with teachers and classmates. Students are required to actively participate in all aspects of the assignment, such as group discussion of real business cases. Equal contribution from each group member in presentation and interaction to find a solution for a business problem  is expected.

          Management is a comprehensive course which suits all career pathways, not only for the business world but also non-business fields, not only for organizations but also for individuals, as the course objective is to aim for a successful result.
